Added to UNESCO's World Heritage Site list in 1994, Kiyomizu Temple (literally ""Kiyomizu-dera"") is one of Japan's most famous temples.
Kiyomizu-dera is best known for its wooden stage that juts out from the main hall, which stands 13 meters high from the hillside. From the stage, you can see the colorful cherry blossoms and maple trees in spring and autumn.
