HERITAGE
There are traces of many who have built AlUla over millennia, from the kingdoms of Dadan and Lihyan, to the trading hubs of the Nabateans into the Islamic era. Much of AlUla’s epic rock formations, valley and sandy desert remains an untouched expanse, with discoveries yet to be made threaded through its rich and layered past.
Old Town
An intricate network of nearly 900 mud-brick houses, various shops and town squares, the Old Town is where visitors can discover the crafts of the region in all their diversity, roaming through countless stalls piled with curiosities and masterfully made objets d’art.

Visit Hegra and experience Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you’ll explore over 110 remarkably well-preserved tombs set in a desert landscape, while learning about the ancient people and culture of AlUla.

Dadan
Amongst the most significant discoveries in the region is the city of Dadan, which was built meticulously from stone and astride the valley’s oasis, dating back the to late 9th century. Due to the proximity to incense trade routes, Dadan was one of the most developed first millennium BCE cities in Northern Arabia.

JABAL IKMAH
Discover thousands of pre-Arabic inscriptions across numerous sites in AlUla, such as AlAqra’a which features more than 450 early Arabic inscriptions. The site of Naqsh Zuhayr features one of the oldest inscriptions of the Islamic era which dates back to 24AH (644 CE). There is no comparable site that is more significant, than Jabal Ikmah, home to the highest concentration and most varied inscriptions in the region.

Oasis Trail
Take a stroll under towering date palm trees and smell the cool freshness of the earth. Stretching from Dadan to the Orange Path, this beautiful, designated trail showcases the heritage of the AlUla Oasis. With picture-perfect locations dotting the way and farmers selling natural products produced on-site, the Heritage Oasis Trail is a must-visit while in AlUla.

Jabal AlFil (Elephant Rock)
Set in the golden desert sands and reaching 50 meters high into the Saudi Arabian sky, this natural formation also known as Jabal-Al’fil, looks like an elephant with a ground-bound trunk. Discover one of AlUla’s most visited location and geological marvel.

ARTS & CULTURE
Most of AlUla’s charm is owed to the considerable effort and care placed into the preservation of its heritage. To this day, the local population has both nurtured the legacy of its ancestors, and skillfully evolved it for our time.
MARAYA
Maraya, meaning mirror or reflection in Arabic, is a stunning piece of art set in the desert canyon of Ashar Valley. Designed to blend into the surrounding landscape, it rises from the sand like a mirage thanks to 9,740 mirrored panels reflecting AlUla's beauty.
Maraya is the centerpiece of AlUla's growing cultural scene. From spectacular concerts and thrilling performances to art residency programs and arthouse films; AlUla is emerging as a cultural center on a global scale.
AlJadidah Village
A vibrant new hub of restaurants, shops and more, AlJadidah is quickly becoming a must-visit location in AlUla. Beautiful murals bring an artistic touch to the pedestrian-friendly area, where the world’s largest hand-painted carpet lines the road for visitors. Centrally located, AlJadidah sits beautifully on the edge of the AlUla Oasis and overlooks AlUla Old Town.
